Hybrid Live Coding Interfaces 2024: Live code your niche!

Hybrid Live Coding Interfaces 2024: Live code your niche! invites practitioners of live coding and those that are adjacent to submit proposals for lightning talks, mini-performances, speculations/ponderings, and/or art works. In this call, we are interested in proposals that hyperfocus and expand small ideas around live coding.

What’s your fixation? What interests you? How does live coding connect to your domain? Give us the details. Share your niche. We are particularly interested in topics that explore less discussed topics within our community. (Go for it. Be weird.)

Topics may include:

  • Accessibility in Live Coding

  • Live Coding and Psychogeography 

  • Live Coding and Critical Code Studies

  • Dead Coding

  • Live Coding and Popular Culture

  • Live Coding and Hardware

  • Live Coding and AI

  • Live Coding and Community

  • Live Coding and Digital Archaeology

  • Live Coding and Recreation

  • Live Coding and Permacomputing

  • Production Through Live Coding

  • Symbolism in Live Coding

Modalities include but are not limited to: presentations, performances, video, and more. Duration: 5 minutes for presentation + 5 minutes for discussions

Key information

  • Format: Research workshop with short ‘lightning’ presentations followed by moderated discussion.

  • Venue: Online via live YouTube live streaming

  • Times: 2-4 hour sessions, spread over two days 

  • Participation fee: Free to attend for all participants and presenters. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a fee for participation.

  • Outcome: Exchange and generation of ideas, new contacts and potential new collaborations.

Key Dates

  • September 22: Call open for submissions.

  • October 27: Submission deadline. (If we extend by a week, Nov 3)

  • Nov 10: Notification of acceptance. (If needed, F Nov 15th[?])

  • Dec 10/11: Online workshops.
